What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are customized inserts for your shoes that help to correct abnormal foot mechanics. 

How can orthotics help you?

Your feet directly impact the rest of your body.  A small abnormality in foot function can negatively impact other joints in your body, including your spine. Abnormal foot mechanics can lead to imbalances in the rest of your body and pain or discomfort. 

Your feet take a lot of abuse!  When you are running, the pressure experienced by your feet can be 3 or 4 times your body weight.  Even when walking, the pressure on your feet can be greater than your own weight.  The American Podiatric Medical Association claims that the average person takes 8,000 to      10, 000 steps a day.  Meaning, that over a lifetime you will walk 115, 000 miles, or more than 4 times the circumference of the earth! 

What we do

At Stratford Chiropractic & Wellness Centre we make customized orthotics using the latest technology.  The doctors (our team) start your visit with a thorough biomechanical assessment of your feet. They will then use Gait Scan to take measurements of your feet while you are walking to determine the precise corrections required.  Following these assessments, the doctors will cast your foot in a neutral position using foam.  The cast and all information gathered during your visit will be sent to The Orthotic Group www.theorthoticgroup.com for manufacturing.
